Libbie Mill – Midtown: A Community Vision
Libbie Mill – Midtown is a new type of community, in the heart of RVA’s Midtown area in Henrico County. It’s an 80-acre mixed-use site offering a vibrant and inspiring urban community in a convenient location. Designed and built with an eye toward Richmond’s Fan, Monument Avenue, and Shockoe Slip areas, Libbie Mill – Midtown is a fresh and unique livable community for RVA.
New homes, neighborhoods, retail, restaurants, and offices are masterfully planned and presented. It’s quickly becoming RVA’s signature community for people to live, work, learn, and play. Come see for yourself.
in RVA's Midtown
We are challenging the establishment. The old way of designing downtown and suburban office parks near stale suburban housing is getting a modern facelift at Libbie Mill – Midtown.
We are innovating and creating a better way to build and grow a community, where people and businesses can reach their full potential, together.
We are inspiring a new, more vibrant way for people to live, work, learn, and play.
We are designing RVA’s signature community, what will be a national model for life as we will know it — a new community where everyone belongs.
One space. A million different ways to use it.
A fundamental principle behind all that is Libbie Mill – Midtown is the concept of "placemaking." The idea is that one physical location can serve many needs for many people. The best places have ten or more different components and can serve ten or more different functions.
That philosophy is built into every aspect of the Libbie Mill – Midtown development. It's why we have three different types of residences — townhomes, condos, and apartments.
It's why we have a new, state-of-the-art public library, Henrico County's Libbie Mill Library. It's why we have office space, retail shops, restaurants, and more.
It's why the hub of the community is a lake and public plaza, with multiple ways to use the area. And it's why we have trails, walkways, and way-finding signs to enhance the walkability and livability of Libbie Mill – Midtown.
Don't be in just one part of RVA. Be in the center of it.
Libbie Mill – Midtown is located within a 15-minute drive of downtown, Short Pump, Southside, Carytown, Northside, and more of Richmond's most exciting destinations.
With I-64 access within sight of the community and Broad Street just seconds away, our location allows both residents and commercial employees to avoid the typical commute associated with being in the thick of Richmond's more congested regions.
On top of that, our community is just a short walk or bike ride away from the popular Willow Lawn shopping center and Richmond's new bus rapid transit system, the GRTC Pulse.
Inspired by the community and history that surrounds us
The temptation when developing an existing 80-acre site is to forget the past and create something brand-new. While every inch of Libbie Mill – Midtown is indeed brand, spanking new, it's also very much part of what makes Richmond unique.
Our architects and designers have invested thousands of hours visiting and documenting the unique and timeless features found in communities and neighborhoods across the RVA region. From the Fan District to Church Hill to Shockoe Slip to Manchester, we've been inspired to create an authentically Richmond community at Libble Mill – Midtown.
Our community is unlike any other place in Richmond. Yet it fits in as beautifully and naturally as if it's always been here.
Live, work, learn, and play.
A community is more than its buildings and surroundings. Its identity comes from the residents, visitors, events, and activities found there. Libbie Mill –Midtown is already an "activity center" in RVA's Midtown area, with something happening almost every day at the Libbie Mill Library, around Libbie Mill Lake, or on The Pier.
Spend an afternoon visiting the community, and you'll see that there's an energy and vibe quickly developing here. And we're only just beginning.
In the coming months and years, more "things to do" and "places to see" will exist at Libbie Mill – Midtown. It's the heart of Richmond's Midtown.
